Black Box Gallery is offering virtual portfolio reviews over a Zoom meeting. Portfolio reviews offer critical feedback and meaningful dialogue for emerging and mid-career photographers. Are you looking to gain new insights to your work and ideas, need help identifying the next steps as an artist, do you want to strengthen your photographic and creative vision?

Virtual portfolio reviews are a great way to discuss and develop concepts and how to broaden a more dynamic understanding of contemporary photography with your work. Virtual portfolio reviews are for 45 minutes over a Zoom meeting. The reviews are by Black Box Gallery Director Todd Johnson. Johnson has over 25 years of experience in arts education and arts administration. He has reviewed portfolios for Dodho Magazine (Barcelona, Spain), Photo Lucida (Portland, Oregon) and Critical Mass (Portland, Oregon). He has exhibited his photographic work nationally in over 50 exhibitions. Johnson received his MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute.

  • 45 minute virtual portfolio review over Zoom for $150
  • Photographers need to submit 10-15 images for review (required)
  • Photographers need to submit a short artist bio (required)
  • Additional review info can be an artist statement (optional)
  • Additional review info can be any Instagram or artist website (optional)
  • Reviewer and Artist will find a mutual time for Zoom meeting

Title the email: Portfolio Review

In the body of the email please include the following info: 

Your Name
Portfolio Review 
A short bio (required)
Instagram or artist website (optional)

Artist Statement (optional) send as attachment

Titles of included photos with Artist corresponding file name 
10 to 15 photos, saved as instructed below

File Set Up: Jpeg files, 1200 pixels on the longest side at 72 PPI, 5 MB or less each (saved). 
Name Files: firstname_lastname01.jpg, firstname_lastname02.jpg, etc…
Send Files: Please use www.wetransfer.com and send files to: 
                    info.blackboxgallery@gmail.com

After receiving your PayPal payment, portfolio review email and files, we will be in touch to schedule the virtual portfolio review via Zoom.
