Snapshot Aesthetic

Theme: Snapshot Photography

The history of snapshot photography is one of ordinary people recording the activities of their daily lives, the places they lived and visited, and the friends and family that surrounded them. Pictures that seem to have a casual look and subject matter that seems strikingly ordinary and familiar, yet at the same time often ironic, humorous, extremely detailed and descriptive of time and place. Millions of these contemporary snapshots are being shared over the Internet on Facebook, Flilcker, MySpace, email, and personal websites.

Tom Prado is a multi-media conceptual artist who explores societal issues through an ironic lens. His current project, “Double Take,” is a series of diptychs, which challenge the veracity of the photographic image.
